Meet
Dr. Capati
Born in New Jersey the youngest of three brothers. Grew up in Decatur, IL. Dr. Capati graduated valedictorian of Eisenhower High School in 1993. Dr. Albert also was heavily involved in sports and music – participating in several school musicals, jazz band, show choir, and being selected MVP of the soccer team his senior year. Albert’s first job was managing a comic book store during his junior and senior year.
Dr. Capati joined his older brothers at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD where he earned a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering in 1997. At college, Albert discovered more about his Filipino culture and became president of the Filipino Students Association during his senior year. Following graduation, he helped out with an anthropological research team studying the diets of primitive humans by examining the wear patterns on their fossilized teeth.
Dr. Capati came back to Illinois to study dentistry at the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton. While not knee deep in textbooks and dental plaster, Albert found the time to play basketball and soccer, build computers and websites, and DJ weddings and karaoke parties.
After a year of learning how to do adequate dentistry very quickly at his first associateship, Dr. Capati learned how to slow back down and do quality comprehensive dentistry under the mentorship of Dr. Frank Link. Dr. Capati purchased Link Dental in Springfield, IL in 2008. The business was renamed to Capati Dental in 2008.
Dr. Capati’s a voracious consumer continuing dental education – particularly in treating temporomandibular disorders and sleep apnea. He is also often on the cutting edge of dental technologies incorporating CEREC Computer Assisted Designing and Milling technology into his practice in 2009, a Fotona Lightwalker dental laser in 2018, and a Prexion Excelsior Cone Beam CT machine in 2019. Dr. Capati is a member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, and the G. V. Black Dental Society.
Music
Dr. Capati is very active in the music community in Springfield. He has performed in several music theater productions including Les Miserables, Rent, Tick Tick Boom, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show Live. He has been lead singer of several local cover bands – Novocaine, The Screaming Vatos, Take 10, and FunDMC. During the pandemic, Dr. Capati has satisfied his need to sing and perform by joining the popular karaoke phone app – Smule.
